Ryan Reynolds protagonizará lo nuevo de Atom Egoyan, ‘Queen of the night’

Según informa The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Reynolds encabezará el reparto del nuevo proyecto del realizador de cine independiente Atom Egoyan, ‘Queen of the night’, un thriller psicológico cuya filmación dará comienzo en el mes de febrero en Ontario, Canadá.

Reynolds aparcará por tanto las grandes producciones tipo ‘Green Lantern’ y’Safe House’ para volver a centrarse en una película más humilde, donde suele ensalzar más sus cualidades dentro del género dramático. Por tanto otro reto a sumar a su carrera tras ‘The Nines’ y ‘Buried’. Egoyan por su parte es un cineasta que sabe perfectamente como conmover al espectador, siendo posiblemente su película más reconocida ‘The Sweet Hereafter’, Espiga de Oro en el Festival de cine de Valladolid y Gran Premio del Jurado en el Festival de cine de Cannes de 1997. Su película más reciente, ‘Chloe’, se estrenó en 2009.

En la cinta, Reynolds interpretará a un padre que descubre una serie de inquietantes pistas ocho años después de que su hija fuese secuestrada, lo que le hace creer firmemente que estas pistas le llevarán a encontrar a su hija todavía viva, que ahora ya tendría 17 años de edad.

Ryan Reynolds To Star In Atom Egoyan’s Next Film ‘Queen Of The Night’

Oh hey, Ryan Reynolds…there’s a name we haven’t heard in a while. Dude has been keeping his head way down since last year’s flop «Green Lantern,» shooting next summer’s blockbuster hopeful «R.I.P.D.,» lending his voice to two animated films («Turbo» and «The Croods»), hanging out with Blake Lively, and watching «Safe House» open earlier this year to some pretty decent numbers. But now he’s going to be heading back home to Canada to take on a movie by one of the nations’s most well-known filmmakers.

Even though he’s currently in the midst of production on the West Memphis Three drama «Devil’s Knot,»Atom Egoyan has his eyes on what’s next, and Reynolds will star in «Queen Of The Night» for the director. Co-written by Egoyan and David Fraser, Reynolds plays the father of an abducted child. Eight years after she was taken, a series of disturbing clues convince her father that the now 17-year-old girl remains alive. He is determined to find her. Kind of sounds like «Tell No One» to a certain degree, but we suppose we’ll see.

On the one hand, it’s nice to see Reynolds step out of the blockbuster mode for a moment and try something different. On the other hand, Egoyan can be very patchy, and his last film, «Chloe,» somehow squanderedJulianne Moore, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried in a truly atrocious sub-B-movie sex thriller. So which Egoyan we’ll get this time around remains to be seen. But it’s moving very fast, which might be a sign that there’s something to it (or that financiers are very happy to have Reynolds involved). Shooting starts in late February in Ontario.
