Jeff Bridges y la adaptación de R.I.P.D.

Jeff Bridges está en conversaciones para protagonizar la adaptación de Universal Pictures del cómic ‘R.I.P.D.’, película donde el actor estará al lado de Ryan Reynolds. Por el momento no está claro qué papel desempeñaría Bridges.
A principios de mes se informó que Zach Galifianakis había abandonado este proyecto por un conflicto de fechas, sobre todo porque no terminaba de quedar claro cuándo iba a dar comienzo la producción. Seguramente porque Warner Bros. todavía duda si finalmente realizará la secuela de ‘Linterna Verde’, algo que dependerá del éxito de ésta.
Robert Schwentke será quien dirija esta adaptación que contará con un guión de Phil Hay y Matt Manfredi, quienes a su vez reflejarán la historia contada en la serie de cómics creada por Peter M. Lenkov. Al día de hoy, seguimos sin saber si la producción es inminente o si se alargará en el tiempo.
La historia gira en torno a dos ex-policías, uno que acaba de morir y otro que falleció hace ya cientos de años, que forman parte de un cuerpo especial dedicado a ir a por los demonios que se cuelan en nuestro mundo y patearles el trasero de vuelta al infierno.

Jeff Bridges In ‘R.I.P.D.’: Ryan Reynolds Getting Police Partner?

Jeff Bridges, living screen legend, is about to dive into the world of the living dead. There, he’ll meet the Sexiest Man Alive. Who is dead, but then alive. Confused?
The Oscar-winner is in talks to join Reynolds in the upcoming film adaptation of «R.I.P.D.,» a graphic novel by writer Peter Lenkov. Deadline reports the talks, in the early stages, would place Bridges in a role abandoned by Zach Galifianakis when Reynolds was unsure if he’d be able to do the film.
«R.I.P.D.» features the story of a police officer, who, slain in the prime of his career, is recruited to join the Rest In Police Department, the ghost world police force. He signs up for 100 years duty in exchange for the chance to find his killer. Bridges would play his ghost police partner, an old pro who’s been on the beat since the 1800’s. Coincidentally, Bridges’ most recent role was that of an 1800’s police officer, Rooster Cogburn of «True Grit.»
Bridges will next appear in «Pablo,» a partially animated documentary about artist Pablo Ferro. Reynolds has another comic-based movie coming out this summer, the highly anticipated «Green Lantern.» He’ll also appear with Jason Bateman and Leslie Mann in the marriage comedy «The Change-Up.»

Universal ha presentado un trailer de “The Change-Up”, protagonizada por Ryan Reynolds y Jason Bateman en una conmutación de cuerpos de los muchachos. Sobreviene humor de fraternidad. La comedia, escrita por Jon Lucas y Scott Moore guionistas de “Hangover”, llegará a los cines el 5 de agosto.
Sinopsis: La comedia toma el tradicional cambio de cuerpos. Creciendo juntos, Mitch (Reynolds) y Dave (Bateman) fueron amigos inseparables, pero como han pasado los años se han ido alejando poco a poco. Mientras que Dave es un abogado con exceso de trabajo, marido y padre de tres hijos, Mitch se ha mantenido un soltero, cuasi-empleado hombre-niño que nunca ha cumplido con la responsabilidades. Para Mitch, Dave lo tiene todo: una bella esposa Jamie (Leslie Mann), niños que lo adoran y un trabajo bien remunerados en un prestigioso bufete de abogados. Para Dave, vivir la vida de Mitch, libre de estrés, sin obligaciones o consecuencias, sería un sueño hecho realidad. Synopsis: The comedy takes the traditional body-switching movie. Growing up together, Mitch (Reynolds) and Dave (Bateman) were inseparable best friends, but as the years have passed they’ve slowly drifted apart. While Dave is an overworked lawyer, husband and father of three, Mitch has remained a single, quasi-employed man-child who has never met a responsibility he liked. To Mitch, Dave has it all: beautiful wife Jamie (Leslie Mann), kids who adore him and a high-paying job at a prestigious law firm. To Dave, living Mitch’s stress free life without obligation or consequence would be a dream come true. Following a drunken night out together, Mitch and Dave’s worlds are turned upside down when they wake up in each other’s bodies and proceed to freak out. Despite the freedom from their normal routines and habits, the guys soon discover that each other’s lives are nowhere near as rosy as they once seemed. Further complicating matters are Dave’s sexy legal associate, Sabrina (Olivia Wilde), and Mitch’s estranged father (Alan Arkin). With time not on their side, Mitch and Dave comically struggle to avoid completely destroying each other’s lives before they can find a way to get their old ones back.

In the new movie, Sinestro (Mark Strong) is a faithful member of the Green Lantern Corps that Jordan joins. But as DC Comics fans know, Sinestro will eventually take a dark turn — one that will be hinted at in the film. “You definitely feel it. But he’s an ally in this film,” Reynolds said. He added about Jordan’s relationship with Sinestro, “I would say it’s contentious. Humans are looked down upon by a lot of the Green Lanterns — they’re kind of a sub-species”.

The Canadian charisma-machine told us what it was about the character that appealed to him: “His real superpower is something everyone can relate to: it’s grappling and dealing with fear every day”. Reynolds was keen to elaborate on what he feels helps Green Lantern stand out from the superhero crowd: “You have this cocky, arrogant Han Solo/Chuck Yeager type. It’s not that he’s fearless; he has courage. There’s a big distinction. One is crazy, being fearless; the other one is very human. I think that’s what makes him the greatest Green Lantern of all. I think that’s what kids and adults alike are gonna love about it”.
We’ll have to wait until 17 June 2011 to see if Reynolds’ confidence is well placed.

Ryan Reynolds prestará su voz a «Turbo», el caracol de Dreamworks

Desde Variety nos llega la noticia de que el actor Ryan Reynolds será el protagonista de la película de animación Turbo, prestando su voz al personaje principal. El encargado de dirigir esta producción de Dreamworks Animation será David Soren (Madagascar), quien ha co-escrito el guión con Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After).
La historia se centra en un caracol de jardín cuyo máximo sueño en la vida sería convertirse en el caracol más rápido del mundo. Debido a un extraño accidente nuestro baboso amigo recibirá una velocidad impresionante, gracias a la cual intentará que su sueño se convierta en realidad.
El estudio aún no se ha puesto a trabajar en el proyecto, sin embargo ya ha fijado la fecha de estreno para junio del 2013. Además, tres meses antes del estreno de Turbo estrenará otra película animada titulada The Croods, una comedia de aventuras inspirada en la prehistoria que también contará con la voz de Reynolds y con la de Nicolas Cage.
El próximo 29 de julio podremos ver a Reynolds como protagonista de «Green Lantern», y el 12 de agosto lo veremos en The Change-Up, compartiendo reparto junto a Jason Bateman.

Ryan Reynolds is in final negotiations to voice the lead role in DreamWorks Animation’s «Turbo.»
David Soren («Merry Madagascar») is directing from a script he co-wrote with Darren Lemke («Shrek Forever After»). Story follows an ordinary garden snail who dreams of becoming the fastest snail in the world. When a freak accident gives him extraordinary speed, Turbo sets out to try to make his dream come true.
Lisa Stewart («Monsters vs. Aliens») is producing «Turbo,» which is slated for release on June 7, 2013.
Reynolds has a relationship with the studio, having voiced one of the leads in Chris Sanders’ adventure comedy «The Croods,» which DWA will open on March 1, 2013, three months prior to «Turbo.»
Thesp is currently at CinemaCon, where he is being honored as Male Star of the Year. He next stars as Hal Jordan in Warner Bros.’ «Green Lantern,» and will also be seen opposite Jason Bateman in Universal’s body-switching comedy «The Change-Up.»

¿Puedes hablar sobre el balance de la comedia con elementos serios de la película?
Ryan Reynolds: «En cuanto a la película en general, yo diría que Hal es mucho más agresivo en la película que gracioso. Una vez que llegamos a la mitad del segundo acto, todo es bastante serio. Es difícil, cuando estás tratando con tanta exposición de una historia original, al servicio de una audiencia con una forma muy analítica. Es una especie peligrosa. Tienes que encontrar una manera de hacerla entretenida y agradable al paladar. Ellos hicieron un gran trabajo con la realización de eso y permitieron que la película comenzara en el primer acto en vez de comenzar en el tercer acto, como lo hacen en un montón de historias originales. Que muchas veces dejan a un público insatisfecho. Pero eso es todo allí. Tú sientes la rabia y el propósito de éste tipo a la mitad del segundo acto. Eso es lo que me atrajo de la película, para empezar. Además, yo no creo que una audiencia media sabría que el traje, en la mitología de la película, está hecho de energía. No está hecho de spandex o ropa de trineo. Así que es una especie totalmente diferente del enfoque que tenemos que tener de la misma. Siempre supe que iba a ser CGI desde la primera vez que conocí a toda la banda. Creo que sólo hay que recordar a la audiencia que es lo que es. Esto es lo que está sucediendo realmente. Pero parte de ello es que el público quiere verse a sí mismo en ese papel. Así que cuando usted tiene un traje que está hecho de energía, no es algo que puede ir a comprar en Target. Es una cosa diferente. Se requiere un poco de tiempo».
Qué oscuro es [el tono de la película]?
«Nunca se vuelve súper oscuro ni nada de eso. Pero tiene sus momentos. Yo diría que es una especie de caminata en la cuerda floja, quizá en términos de los tonos de «The Dark Knight» y algunas de las otras recientes historias del mundo del cómic. Tony Stark y ese tipo de cosas. Es una especie de caminata en la cuerda floja en alguna parte en medio de esas cosas».
Si la película genera secuelas, ¿hay algo específico de la mitología que te gustaría ver? ¿Te gustaría explorar el lado oscuro de Hal, es decir, ser poseído por Parallax?

Can you talk about the balance of comedy with the film’s serious elements?
Ryan Reynolds:”In terms of the overall film, I would say that Hal is far more aggressive in the movie than he is funny. Once we get in to the middle of that second act, everything is pretty serious. It’s just tough, when you’re dealing with so much exposition of an origin story, to service an audience with it in a very analytical way. It’s sort of dangerous. You have to find a way to make that entertaining and palatable. They did such a great job with doing that and allowing the movie to start in the first act instead of it starting in the third act like it does in a lot of origin stories. That will oftentimes leave an audience unsatisfied. But that’s all in there. You feel this guy’s rage and purpose halfway through the second act. That’s what drew me to the movie to begin with. Also, I didn’t think that an average audience would know that the suit, in the mythology of the film, is made of energy. It’s not made of spandex or luge-wear. So it’s a whole different kind of approach that we have to have to it. I always knew it was going to be CGI from the first time I met the entire gang. I think you just have to remind the audience that this is what it is. This is what’s actually happening. But part of that is that the audience wants to see themselves in that role. So when you have a suit that’s made of energy, it’s not something that they can go pick up at Target. It’s a different thing. It requires a little bit of time”.
How dark is [the tone of the film]?
“It never goes super dark or anything like that. But it has its moments. I would say that it sort of walks that tight-rope in terms of maybe “The Dark Knight” tones and some of the other recent iterations of stories from the comic book world. Tony Stark and those kind of things. It sort of walks that tight-rope somewhere in the middle of those things.”
If the film spawns sequels, is there anything specific from the mythology that you’d like to see?Would you want to explore the dark side of Hal, i.e. being possessed by Parallax?
“Yeah, I’m game for that. If we were to do a second film, I know where that’s going. But a third, I have no idea. That would be very exciting. I’d love to maybe hand it over to one of the others. Guy Gardner or John Stewart or something.”
Do you know what’s going to be happened with “R.I.P.D.”? Is that going to be your next project?
“I don’t know. I hope so. I always think that you’re not really doing a movie until you break for lunch on the fifth day. But it would be fantastic. We’re still trying to work it out with cast and crew. We’ll see”.

Ryan Reynolds y Blake Lively llegaron a WonderCon en San Francisco hoy para hablar acerca de Green Lantern. Después de que recibimos el regalo de varios minutos de metraje de la película, las estrellas subieron al escenario para hacer frente a los desafíos de la película de superhéroes y sobre lo que era trabajar juntos.
Reynolds parecía feliz y emocionado de estar hablando de la película, sobre todo después de las imágenes que se mostraron. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively hit WonderCon in San Francisco today to talk about Green Lantern. After we were treated to several minutes of footage from the film, the stars took to the stage to address the challenges of the superhero movie and what it was like to work together.
Reynolds seemed happy and excited to be talking about the film, especially after the footage was shown. When asked how it felt to be here after working hard on the movie, he was candid, saying it “actually feels pretty good when you see that sh*t right there.” As for why he wanted to star in the film, he said that he had confidence in the movie because of the studio, Warner Bros., and how well they’ve handled other important projects, like Harry Potter (great-looking, funny, and a Harry Potter fan? He may be too perfect.) He also cited the technology, noting that its availability is why “we can make a movie like this”.
Asked about what it was like to work with each other, Lively first joked that it was “horrible,” but their chemistry and mutual admiration was clear. Lively said that Reynolds was “so much fun to work with,” and that he’s “impossibly likable.”
Reynolds called the experience fantastic, and mentioned that they read together during the casting and “we just had chemistry… one of the few things in film you can’t create”.
Reynolds talked about his training and diet to become the Green Lantern, which consisted of gymnastics and eating “orphan children” (a joke, I presume) for six months. He admitted that it was kind of tough, saying, “I’m not an old guy, but I’m not 19 anymore”. Reynolds gave some details about the film. He said it’s an original story and that his character Hal Jordan starts off as cocky and arrogant, but “in receiving the gift finds humility and real purpose”. (…)
Reynolds constantly cracked up the audience and was asked if his own sense of humor comes into play as Hal Jordan. He said that the character has “a dry wit” and, “He’s not a comedian, but he can throw a line pretty well”.
Lively said she would be “so thrilled” at the opportunity to be Star Sapphire (Carol Ferris’s alter ego) in a possible sequel, partly because she said she was jealous of how many stunts Reynolds got to do. The only things that’s daunting to her, she admitted, is the outfit. “Maybe they can put a little more material on,” Lively suggested.
Lots of folks asked Reynolds about the Deadpool movie that was once in the works. While cracking that “Deadpool is not a villain, he’s an assh*le,” Reynolds didn’t have any insight into the movie’s development, but said that if it ever happens, “It’s going to be made in the right way: Hard R”.
Reynolds joked that he had planned to come out and tell the crowd that he was going to play The Flash as an April Fools’ joke, but decided against it. When asked if he had any casting suggestions, Reynolds did: Bradley Cooper.
